A live local-service site Kyle Broughton built and ranked as a public AEO proof of concept — home to a custom FEMA flood-zone lookup tool, event-fresh flood-response pages, and a full agent layer. The same techniques applied to client work, run in the open where the results are checkable.

Why AEO
What is Answer Engine Optimization?
Search no longer ends at ten blue links. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews, and Gemini answer the question before the click — and they answer by citing sources. Answer Engine Optimization makes a site one of those sources: structured, extractable, and legible to the agents doing the answering. Kyle Broughton builds for that layer, not just the links beneath it.
What I do
What Kyle Broughton does.
- 01
SEO
Technical and on-page SEO — crawlability, structured data, internal architecture, and content built to rank. The unglamorous foundation everything else compounds on.
- 02
AEO / GEO
Answer Engine and Generative Engine Optimization — entity authority, schema, and agent-legibility (llms.txt, structured content, machine-readable markup) so answer engines extract and cite the site.
- 03
Website building
Design and build in WordPress and Astro — fast, accessible, conversion-focused sites. 15+ years of production craft, from the layout to the load time.
How I work
- 01
Semantic content built for extraction
- 02
Entity-based E-E-A-T
- 03
Agent-ready technical foundation
- 04
Measurement tied to revenue, not vanity metrics
01Selected work
Proof, not promises — live AEO labs Kyle Broughton owns and runs.
A network of local-service properties, each built on a repeatable Astro system that ships a ranked, agent-legible site in days — entity schema, structured facts, and a measurement stack baked in from day one.
Here lately
Here lately — from the lab.
Confirmed a decision-stage content cluster
How-to-choose, cost, red-flags, certifications — the questions people ask right before they call. Direct-answer-first, question-form headings, comparison tables: written to be extracted and cited, not just ranked.
Pre-positioned a hurricane / tropical-storm page
Published an evergreen page on how tropical systems actually flood inland Shreveport — built in the calm so it's indexed and ranking before the next Gulf storm sends remnant rain north.
Retrofitted the full agent layer
llms.txt, clean AI-crawler rules, structured markup — made the site legible to the agents now doing the answering. If ChatGPT and Perplexity can't read a site, they can't cite it.
Built a FEMA flood-zone checker into the site
Added a tool that lets a visitor type in their address and see their FEMA flood zone, right on the page. On-page utility like this earns links and citations a wall of text never will.
Shipped a living flash-flood response page
When back-to-back flash floods hit Shreveport this summer, shreveportfloodcleanup.com had a same-week page documenting each event — the fresh, local, first-hand coverage answer engines reward. It takes a new row every time the next storm hits.
